«Толстый, как две короткие доски». Очень глупый.

My brother's as thick as two short planks. — Мой брат туп, как бревно.

По какой причине доски должны быть короткими и их должно быть именно две, я просто не знаю. Если читатель может объяснить мне происхождение этого выражения, я буду очень благодарен.
